In all the forums and question sites I read, the one question that gets asked over and over again is “How do I get free traffic?”. You here so many different answers, some say search engines, others say social media sites and others will tell you there is no such thing pay for it. This site doesn’t get many people to it a day for one it’s a personal project of mine and two I haven’t put the work into it to help it get the views. But I have a hundred or so websites that I do put a lot of work into them and I will tell you how I get free targeted traffic to them every day. There is no easy way to do it the way I do it, it’s free but it cost you time. If you don’t want to spend your time doing it then it cost you money. It’s as simple as that. So one way or another it does cost you, but if you are just looking to save what’s in your wallet and not worried about time than this should work.
The first thing I do is set up a twitter that matches the niche I am trying to target, for example “bed bugs” with @bedbugboy. On that twitter I find other people who are into bedbugs maybe search a hashtag like #bedbugs than I follow all those people. Now this does take a while but you will notice doing that you start to get followers and guess what?!?! They are all in the bed bug niche with you! Now those ain’t the people your going after though, the people you are going after are their followers, so after you start to get a pretty good following go back and check some of your “bed bug” friends followers out. Follow them or post on other bed bug twitters so those followers see you and start to follow you. You will start to see traffic from these people. Also when you twitter just use your niche hashtag that way people searching for that hashtag will see yours. I’ve gained many followers like this and I have got tons of traffic from it.
The next place I get free traffic from is youtube. Youtube is the second most popular site on the internet, use it! My postcards and use the description area and a watermark to share your link, you cannot go wrong there. Make good informative videos and people will find you and click on your link. If it’s just a side project use their copyright free videos and edit them to make’em your own. In my mind, I think people marketers under utilize youtube so that’s why you should take advantage of it!
Another good step is to post in forums related to your niche, if you have your link either in your signature or in your profile people will click out of curiosity take advantage of it. Make sure your not spamming but at the same point post enough to where you are everywhere on the board.
My favorite way of getting free traffic to my website is to post on reddit. Reddit with it’s millions of user have what is called sub reddits or niches if you are on our side of things. Get your post on a good subreddit it can automatically bring you in 1000’s of visitors instantly.
The last thing I would say is be consistent in putting out content. Being consistent gets you more views from social networks if you share your stuff and it helps you in the search engines as well. I know on this website I haven’t shown it that much but on my others I post everyday (hint:I love syndication). So go write or twist that article today!
